FAQs
What sensea is
What is sensea - is it a medical or emergency device?
sensea is a home awareness device, not a medical or emergency-response product. It helps families stay quietly connected to the rhythm of an independently living relative's day and notice when something is out of the ordinary. It doesn't diagnose, doesn't provide medical advice, and isn't a substitute for emergency services or professional care.
Is sensea an elderly care device?
In a way. It helps families look after an older parent at home, from wherever they are. But it isn't medical equipment, and it doesn't replace a carer or emergency services. Think of it as the part of care that happens between visits: quiet awareness, and a message when something isn't right.
What happens when something goes wrong - and who decides?
When sensea notices something unusual, radar, warmth and vibration have to agree before anyone is alerted. All sensors work at the same time, and their signals are weighed together. If the moment still needs judgment, a person in your circle gets a notification and decides whether to reassure, ignore or act. sensea doesn't call emergency services on its own or make medical decisions. A person who knows your loved one makes the call.
Will sensea notice everything?
No, and we would rather say so plainly. sensea learns what a normal day looks like and speaks up when the day stops looking normal - but we cannot promise to catch every exception to the norm, either in the room the device looks after or in the rest of the home. A home holds a thousand small possibilities, and some of them look ordinary to any sensor.
What we can promise is honesty about that, and that sensea keeps getting better: the way it reads a home improves over time, and those improvements reach the device you have at home.
Is there research behind your approach?
Yes. Before sensea, we spent years in professional care, and we funded an independent review at Paracelsus Medical University Salzburg, covering ten years of studies on sensor technology in care. It found that people accept quiet sensing in the room far more readily than cameras or devices worn on the body. The review looked at existing research and did not test sensea itself.

Privacy and dignity
Is my loved one being watched or recorded?
sensea has no camera and no microphone. It doesn't record video or audio of daily life, and it never builds an image of a person or a room. It senses movement, presence, and the conditions of a space - not identity. The one moment any visual exists is a short heat clip after a sudden movement (warmth only, never a recognisable image), sent to the people in your circle and kept only for the time needed to verify what happened. In normal daily life, there is nothing to see and nothing being kept.
Will this feel intrusive - or make my loved one feel surveilled?
sensea is designed to protect independence, not supervise it. Because there's no camera, no microphone, and nothing to wear, there's no sense of being filmed or monitored going about a normal day. Most of the time it does nothing visible at all. It's meant to give your loved one privacy and a family peace of mind at the same time - presence in the background, not a watchful eye.
Living with sensea
Does my parent have to wear or charge anything?
No. sensea is entirely contactless. There is nothing to wear, nothing to press, nothing to remember to charge, and nothing that depends on your parent doing anything at all. It works quietly in the background of the home - which is exactly why it keeps working on the days a pendant or a smartwatch would have been left on the nightstand.
What does my parent need at home?
A power socket and a Wi-Fi connection. That is all. sensea sits on a shelf or a sideboard and plugs into the wall like a lamp. Your parent does not need a smartphone, an app or an account, and there is nothing for them to learn.
How does setup work?
Someone in the home plugs sensea in, and you finish the setup from your own phone in the sensea app: connect it to the home Wi-Fi, name the room, and invite the people in your circle. You can do this on a visit, or talk your parent through the plugging in over the phone. After that, sensea spends its first days quietly learning the rhythm of the home. Nobody has to do anything.
Who needs the app?
Only the people in your circle. They get the sensea app on their phone, iPhone or Android, and that is where alerts and quiet observations arrive. You decide who is in the circle, and you can add or remove people at any time.
What happens when my parent is away from home for a while?
Tell sensea the home is empty and set how long for on a dial. It stops expecting the daily rhythm, so a week at the coast or a stay in hospital does not turn into a string of quiet-day observations. You also choose whether your circle should be told about any presence in that time - leave it off when family will be in and out of the flat anyway. With it on, movement inside the empty home sends an alert with a short heat clip, and a person decides what to do. When the time runs out, sensea returns to normal by itself.
Reserving and pricing
When can I get one, and what does it cost?
We open orders in spring 2027. You buy as many sensea devices as your home needs, once, and add one membership per home for alerts, the app and updates. All prices are on the Plans page. If you hold a reservation, you hear from us first, order before anyone else and get the launch price, which is limited to the first 500 orders. Until then your reservation stays fully refundable.
